Liv Monroe

My secret goal in life has always been to bring peace to the world. Secret because I felt embarrassed expressing such a lofty goal. Meanwhile, I pursued my main interests; studying child development and education at University, teaching (which is one of my favorite ways of learning), traveling to better understand families and interpersonal relationships, mothering (my greatest learning experience), volunteering in schools, and mediating through our local Dispute Resolution Center because I wanted to contribute to others well being (don't we all?).

As a mediator wanting to improve my skills I attended a workshop by Marshall Rosenberg in 1998 introducing Nonviolent Communication (NVC), A Language of Compassion. Marshall's radical communication process has become not only the centerpiece of my mediations, but has permeated my whole life.

Currently, my passion is teaching NVC to children in their classrooms and to parents and school staff. I also enjoy sharing the process with groups, organizations, businesses and anyone interested in learning along with me. I offer regular public NVC trainings and practice groups.

This process for "Communicating to Connect" has offered me concrete steps towards my secret goal. The thrilling part is that I can now imagine a possible way for humans working together to achieve world peace, from the inside out, one heart at a time.

Holly is a certified trainer with the global Center for Nonviolent Communication (www.cnvc.org) and the online NVC Academy (www.nvcacademy.com/9).  Holly’s clients come from a wide diversity of fields, including medical (UW Medical Center, Children’s Hospital), corporate (Microsoft, Conscious Choice magazine), spiritual (Unity Church, Sundust Oracle Institute), families (North Seattle Co-op Preschools, CHANGES parenting network) and social change (Peace Alliance, RESULTS).

Elana Sabajon

Elana Sabajon

Since spring 2002, I have been experiencing daily the transformational power of NVC. Each day is a new beginning to strengthen my communication skills and to deepen my commitment to connect with more compassion to others and myself.

I am committed to social change and positive relationships in our families, our workplaces and in our institutions.

I am passionate about transforming the world – one dialogue at a time.

I dream of a world where cooperation, authenticity, integrity, compassion, care for others, meaning and purpose and a recognition of our interdependence are the natural way we interact with one another across all settings. I truly believe that we have all the resources within ourselves to live life to the fullest.

I am the mother of two children, who really inspired me at the beginning of this journey to create the kind of world I want them to live in. I hold a Masters in Counseling and am a Certified Trainer for the global organization the Center for Nonviolent Communication.

My work takes place locally as well as internationally. I speak fluent German and English, and have lived in four different countries on two continents. These experiences have helped me understand the universal nature of human relationships and connection regardless of personal, cultural or socio-economic status.

I’ve also worked across the States in a variety of settings: orders, schools, churches, prison and university. I work in private practice with individuals, couples, parents and families. I offer mediation. I facilitate and teach trainings in the Foundations of NVC and Deepening NVC consciousness, and hold NVC Parenting series.

I am the cofounder of the Vashon Island NVC Family Camp and an active member of the Northwest Compassionate Communication Network as well as the global Center for Nonviolent Communication.

Learning and integrating the tools of NVC helps us access our potential and to live the intention to be the change we want to see in the world … by transforming the world – one dialogue at the time.

I have been interested in personal healing, since I was a teenager growing up in North Seattle. I’ve wanted to discover how to find peace within and how to heal families so that the world may become a more loving, compassionate place. I am so excited to be sharing NVC because it keeps me closer to the consciousness that has become such an important, core part of my life.

To follow my interests I received a B.A. in Sociology with a Minor in History in 1988 from the University of New Mexico. I received my teaching certificate for Social Studies 7-12th grade the next year. When my husband and I returned to Washington, I became an Ameri Corps volunteer and worked at Kitsap County Project Family, a non-profit agency for the prevention of child abuse. There I worked with pregnant and parenting teens, and parents of young children. I learned many parenting programs and curricula. I received my most important degree in 1993, when our first child was born. I then got a double degree in 1996 when our twins were born. And all the parent education preparation didn’t help me understand how to navigate my inner landscape, let alone help me teach my children how to self-regulate. Thankfully, I was asked if I might be interested in joining an NVC practice group in 2006 and my life changed. NVC has helped me realize my dream of helping to spread compassion and has greatly benefited my relationship with myself, my children, my husband and my world. Now I want to help others explore this meaningful work.

Within the last ten years I have taught 3rd and 4th graders NVC using Sura Hart’s The No Fault Classroom and worked as an aid for 4 years while also serving as the school’s Student Support Coordinator. I have been volunteering at the Women’s prison sharing NVC since 2010 and I have been teaching middle schoolers NVC at the local Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. I have a passion for sharing NVC to anyone who is interested in exploring self-growth and learning a different way of speaking and listening. I especially love to work with parents and teachers. I have attended Family Camp with my family for the past 2 years. I provide community workshops and facilitate practice groups in Kitsap County. I also work with individuals and offer NVC mentoring and coaching. Please email me at mgchristen@aol.com.

I love connecting with my own and others’ feelings and needs. NVC is my greatest hope for creating peace in the world.

I was raised one of nine children of an Iowa Catholic farm family and took authority very seriously. Believing I might have a calling to the religious life, I was even in the convent for a year.

Since then, I have taught high school English and second grade. I married and divorced seven years later, raising two children. I’ve been an Event Coordinator, a Speaker, an Admissions Director at nursing homes, and an inside salesperson. A landlady since 1985, I rent rooms to six housemates. I am currently a Life Coach and Compassionate Communication Trainer. I have given NVC workshops at churches, schools, community and educational organizations, and other small groups.

I have an M.A. in Adult Education, and was a relationship columnist 1992-2008 for Seattle's Active Singles Life. I was on the board of the Puget Sound Coaching Association for three years. A Personal and Professional Coach since 1998, I am a member of International Coaching Federation. I also bring to my practice the skills and awareness I have learned in Voice Dialogue, co-counseling, Nonviolent Communication, Landmark Education and Enneagrams.

I enjoy dancing, travel, being in Nature, reading, facilitating monthly book discussions, philosophizing, meeting men through the personals, and learning on the Internet. I am dedicated to "fully expressing all of who I am". My intention is to never grow up.

Four values guide my life: connection, contribution, discovery and freedom. These principles have led me to travel on my own in Asia and other countries, and to teach English as a Second Language in Mexico. I love collecting online resources, and enjoy sharing them with people.

Contact me in Seattle at 206-938-8385 or email me. I offer a free 30-minute telephone coaching session and work with people in person, by phone or by email to stimulate discovery, focus on fulfillment and celebrate completions. I know that NVC resolve difficult conversations in their lives. I am available for seminars and workshops or for individual or couples work. My life journey has taken me into teaching and training early childhood teachers, writing and recording songs for children and adults, writing books, poetry and scripts, and even performing with a puppet troupe. I've always attempted to inspire compassion though my creative work, and to bring about more peace personally, and for others.

Teaching and sharing Marshall's work combines my values, many of my skills and my love of working with people. I brings me great joy to see others learn and experience what I have, using NVC, that is..more love, self-worth, and less fear in their lives.

I've been teaching and sharing NVC in Workshops and Small Group Classes and Practice Sessions for the past 7 years..two years after I joined the first Core Team here in Seattle that was dedicated to spreading Marshall's work. I am still on that team, and continue to do workshops and lead groups, locally.

I've practiced co-counseling for many years, taken Landmark Education courses, and received and M.A. in Human Development and Adult. Ed. from Pacific Oaks College I love to explore new horizons that deepen and enhance my life and practice.

In 2006 I first saw Marshall Rosenberg speak. I immediately saw the power and beauty of this simple but radical way of communicating, and, as a business manager was able to put Nonviolent Communication to work right away and see how the practical human benefits could effect the workplace, and, in some small way, the world.

I believe Nonviolent Communication works because it is both practical for daily life, and it is transformative for individuals who practice it regardless of their spiritual/political beliefs or social/economic background. If you want to communicate better and have more harmony with your family, if you want to create a more powerful and collaborative business setting, or if you just want to be more connected to your inner truth, there is a way to apply Nonviolent Communication.

My vision is of a world where everyone's needs are met in ways that contribute to the planet as a whole, but in a daily service to this vision I see it beginning with giving in a practical and meaningful way that can enhance and support everyday life. Whether I'm mediating, teaching, or facilitating conversations, I am most interested in creating ways to work with and adapt to the particular needs of people and the situations they are in. Meeting people where they are and being flexible is key to this, and I believe that is also key not only to being more efficient and making progress, but to more love and compassion in the world as well.
